7: River Country Ducks Unlimited Chapter Hosts Annual Waterfowl Party

The River Country Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is holding its 4th annual fundraising event on Saturday June 07, 2014 at the Creek County Fairgrounds, 4 Miles West of Sapulpa on Highway 66, Sapulpa, OklahomaDoors open at 6:00 pm, and dinner is at 6:30 pm.   

Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest non-profit conservation organization dedicated to conserving, restoring and managing wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl.  These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.  Ducks Unlimited has conserved over 13 million acres of habitat in North America, including over 37,000 acres in Oklahoma. 

Each year, the River Country Chapter of Ducks Unlimited holds a grassroots fundraising event to support DU’s conservation work.  Ducks Unlimited commits a minimum of 80 cents of every dollar to conservation programs and uses partnerships ensure conservation is achieved as effectively and efficiently as possible. 

The cost for the fundraising event is $35 single/$50 couple/$15 Greenwings (17 & under) and includes dinner and a 1-year membership to Ducks Unlimited. There will be raffles for various hunting products and equipment, as well as a silent auction.

21: 4th Annual Clifford Stevens Memorial Scholarship Trial Ride.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. 6 miles south of Billingsley Ford on Plainview Road in Ardmore Ok. All proceeds go to the Clifford Stevens Scholarship at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. 23-24: Regional Wildlife Conference

The Ouachita Mountains Resources Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council proudly announces the upcoming Regional Wildlife Conference, scheduled for June 23rd & 24th, at the McAlester Expo Center, in McAlester, OK. The event will be one of the most in-depth wildlife conferences of the year. The wildlife presentations and networking opportunities will benefit landowners, investors, professionals, and wildlife enthusiasts throughout the region.

Pre-registration cost for the conference including tours is $75 per person, $125 per couple or $65 per student (id required). Registration includes admittance to the main two-day conference sessions, booth exhibits, continental breakfasts, lunches, banquet dinner, and direct time with leading wildlife professionals.

28: The National Wild Turkey Foundation is hosting a Wildlife Field Day for Landowners, Foresters, and Sportsmen. The Wildlife Field Day is on Saturday, June 28 from 8:30am to 3pm at the Spavinaw Wildlife Management Area in Eucha, Oklahoma.

28: Quail Forever Annual Youth Fun Instructional Shoot

The Central Oklahoma 89er Chapter of Quail Forever is sponsoring their 9th Annual Youth Instructional Shoot & Cookout on June 28, 2014. The objective is to introduce youth to the sport of shotgun shooting in a safe and fun environment and is open to both boys and girls ages 10 to 18. The instructors are either NRA certified in basic shotgun instruction or certified through the Oklahoma Hunters Education Program.

In addition to the shotgun shooting, we have arranged for members of the Leopold Foundation, a conservation group, to conduct a hands-on educational project designed to increase the ecological awareness of our youth. The material they will cover relates to hunting, fishing, and conservation skills.

The event will take place at Silverleaf Shotgun Range on June 28, 2014, starting at 9:00 am and concludes with lunch. Due to the generosity of our sponsors, there is no charge; however, pre-registration is required as there is a maximum number of kids that can attend.
