2015 Scheduled Events

Please note that participants at any of the Saturday Morning Programs are exempt from requiring a current hunting/fishing license or Wildlife Conservation Passport.

January 10th: Star Party at Hackberry Flat - 6:30 pm - 9 pm.

Clear sky or cloudy, you are invited to come learn about the night sky, constellations and planets with Mike Caywood, Manager of Alabaster Caverns State Park and amateur astronomer. Refreshments will be provided. Participants should dress warmly and bring an outdoor chair.

February 7th: It's All About Raptors- 9 am - noon. Program Full

During the winter, Hackberry Flat is visited by many raptors, birds that actively hunt other animals for food. Come learn about these raptors and how they make a living at Hackberry Flat. Members of the Oklahoma Falconer's Association will have a live bird to help us learn how to identify raptors. After our classroom time, participants will convoy into the area to observe the raptors. This program is appropriate for children 10 years and older. Please dress warmly. There is no fee but reservations are required. Saturday, August 22 - A Wetland at Night Tour  - 7:30 pm - 11 pm

Participants will travel into the Hackberry Flat wetland in an open trailer with seats to see what critters are out and about.  Biologists will try a variety of techniques to bring wildlife a little closer.  Participants must be at least 14 years old.  There is no fee but reservations are required as seating is limited.
