OKC trout season at Dolese Youth Park Lake
The trout season at Dolese Youth Park Pond
is made possible through generous
donations from BancFirst.
New Year's Day will mark the opening of Oklahoma City's
seventh annual rainbow trout season at Dolese Youth Park Pond,
one of Oklahoma City's "Close to Home" fishing waters, located
1/2 block west of Meridian on NW 50.
Thousands of fish will be stocked through the eight-week season, opening January 1 and running through February 28. The rainbow trout will average 1/2 pound in weight and ninety percent of the fish will be 8 to 14 inches in length. The remainder will be trophy size fish up to 24 inches in length.
"We recommend using four to six pound test line and small hooks. The best baits in past trout seasons have been Power Bait, salmon eggs, small earth
worms, small minnows, small spinners
and crappie jigs," said Oklahoma City fisheries biologist Bob
The trout fishing regulations for Oklahoma City are as follows:
Trout season is January 1 – February 28.
A city fishing permit and state fishing license are required. A state trout license is not required.

Dolese's rainbow trout season is a partnership between the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
