Information and Education Summary of Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Information and Education Supervisor to work on projects that fit the priorities and goals of the Department of Wildlife. This position will be tasked with comprehensive Information and Education projects such as marketing initiatives, publishing, DVD projects, or web page development. Will be responsible for desktop publishing projects requiring layout and design skills which may include posters, brochures or booklets. Contribute magazine articles, news releases and draft correspondence. Teach Hunter Education classes annually, and assist with OAIS (Archery in the Schools) workshops/state shoot, fishing clinics and other education-focused events. Will be responsible for limited video production, both shooting and editing, including completed segments for Outdoor Oklahoma. Develop and acquire a more extensive line of outdoor store items to promote hunting, fishing and wildlife watching. May be required to perform other duties as assigned. Must have the ability to walk and jog over rough terrain for extended periods and swim. May be required to work extended hours, weekends, and stay overnight out of town and endure various extremes of outdoor weather conditions. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in public speaking situations and be able to express oneself clearly and concisely in writing. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Be proficient in use of computers and various software applications. May be required to become certified as a Reserve Officer. May be required to participate in inter-divisional training program. Must be able to drive a vehicle, 2/4 wheel drive, standard and automatic, and ATVs. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds for a distance of 100 yards. Lift, carry and use resource trunks, boxes of educational material, display cases, signs, cages, audio-visual and photographic equipment. Requires the ability to handle wild animals in live and dead condition. Requirements: Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications (journalism, photojournalism, radio/TV, public relations, etc.) or Biology (wildlife, fisheries management, zoology, etc.) is required. If degree is in biology, additional degree or major number of hours is required in communications skills. If degree is in education or communications areas, significant number of hours in biology course work is required. Experience: At least one year previous experience in one of the above fields. Must use computers for word processing, desktop publishing and be familiar with the use of the Internet. How to Apply: Must apply on the Department’s Employment Application.
