The mission of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is to
manage Oklahoma’s wildlife resources and habitat to provide scientific,
educational, aesthetic, economic and recreational benefits for present
and future generations of hunters, anglers and others who appreciate
wildlife. In support of this statement, we are committed to:

Conserving wildlife resources, habitat, and biodiversity through scientific research,
propagation and management.

Balancing wildlife needs with those of people.

Supporting and promoting traditional uses of wildlife through regulated fishing,
hunting, and trapping consistent with sound management principles.

Informing and educating citizens so they will recognize the value of wildlife
resources and support Department regulations and programs.

Protecting wildlife resources through increased awareness of and aggressive enforcement of wildlife laws and regulations.

Identifying and acknowledging diverse
public interests in wildlife resources and implementing responsible
programs consistent with those interests.

Promoting ethical private land and water
practices.

Maintaining and improving accessibility
to wildlife on private and public waters and lands.

Serving as advocate and legal
representative for wildlife resources and habitat in environmental
issues and actions that may impact these resources.

Protecting unique, threatened and
endangered species and preserving their habitats.

Ensuring excellence in the pursuit of our
mission through the hiring and continued training of qualified and
experienced professionals.

Managing available funds efficiently and
seeking innovative revenue sources for the accomplishment of this
mission.
