These are not a legal document. This is an interpretive summary of the Titles 29 and 800 of Oklahoma Statutes governing Fish and Wildlife laws as established by the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission and contains those rules that affect the average angler. For a complete listing of official regulations, you can obtain copies of current Oklahoma Statutes through your local library.

CHANGES FOR 2009:

• Spotted bass are exempt from all length limits and bag limits, statewide, except certain areas. See Special Area Regulations for more information.

• It is unlawful to possess, propagate, or sell blueback herring, bighead carp, silver carp, black carp, alewives, or rainbow smelt in the state of Oklahoma, with no exceptions.

• Residents may now purchase a 5-Year Fishing or 5-Year Fishing & Hunting Combination license.

• The following plants are illegal to possess, propagate, or sell in Oklahoma: Mosquito Fern, Caulerpa, Anchored Water Hyacinth, Hydrilla, Hygro, Water Spinach, African Elodea, Ambulila, Purple Loosestrife, Marsilea, Australian Waterclover, Waterclover, Paperbark Tree, Cat’s Claw, Duck Lettuce, Japanese Arrowhead, all giant and common Salvinia species, Wetland Nightshade, Exotic Bur-reed, Mud Mat and Alligatorweed(s).

• Non-metallic manmade materials may be used in limbline fishing.

• There are new rules for possession of paddlefish eggs.

• The portion of the Illinois River between the confluence of Baron Fork Creek and Horseshoe Bend boat ramp, above Tenkiller Lake, is defined and regulated as part of the upper Illinois River.

• All the ponds and creeks within the Robert S. Kerr WMA and the Lower Illinois River below Tenkiller Dam, including the old river channel, will have a 14-inch minimum length limit for largemouth and smallmouth bass.

• There are new restrictions on fishing for alligator gar at Lake Texoma.
