West Gulf Coastal Plain: Small Stream Evergreen Woodland and Shrubland
Area: 1,650 acres (668 ha)
Description of Mapped Type: This type is mapped along first and second order streams within
narrow buffers where loblolly pine is the prevailing dominant. These stands are commonly the
result of past timber management, but these areas could not be identified as former clear-cuts
based on satellite remote sensing data from 2000 to 2012. Common associated trees include
sweetgum, water oak, ash species, and elm species.
