West Gulf Coastal Plain: Pine - Hardwood Forest

               Area: 46,870 acres (18,968 ha)
               Description of Mapped Type:  This type mainly represents areas that are in recovery from past
               timber management in the modern landscape, but could not be identified as plantations based
               on data from 2000 - 2012.  Loblolly, or less commonly, shortleaf pines are a major component,
               together with species such as white oak, southern red oak, post oak, hickory species, water
               oak, sweetgum, and sugar hackberry.  Common understory species include farkleberry,
               American beautyberry, flowering dogwood, and hophornbeam.
