Venison Bowl

The venison bowl is a hearty and flavorful dish that combines tender, lean venison with a variety of wholesome ingredients. The rich, slightly gamey taste of the venison pairs perfectly with the vegetables, rice, and a spicy or tangy sauce. This bowl offers a satisfying, protein-packed meal and is a perfect choice for a cozy dinner or meal prep, making it a nourishing option that highlights the unique flavors of wild game.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes, or more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) steam-able frozen stir fry vegetables
  • 1 pound ground venison
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon spicy mayo or yum yum sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes and ginger.
  2. Steam vegetables per directions on bag.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add ground venison and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in soy sauce mixture and green onions until well-combined, allowing to simmer until heated through, about 2 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately over white or brown rice, top with steamed vegetables, spicy mayo or yum yum sauce, garnish with green onion and sesame seeds, if desired.
