Fishing Reports

We know that fishing in Oklahoma can be good nearly all year round, but the peak time for most species and anglers is March to June, which is when we require reports to be submitted. 

If there is a particular lake you would like to know about during the non-required report time, you can contact the county game warden or a local bait shop to check on the lake conditions before heading out.

Blue River PFHA Report

Jan 20. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 40°F and clear. (USGS Lake Level)

Trout, Rainbow Good on caddis flies, in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, small lures, spoons, worms around brush structure, channels, creek channels, river channel, river mouth, rocks.

Keystone Lake Report

Jan 19. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 42°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Largemouth Fair on Alabama rig, crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits around brush structure, rocks.

Catfish, Blue, Catfish, Channel Good on live bait, live shad around main lake, river channel.

Crappie, Black, Crappie, White Good on jigs, minnows around brush structure, docks.

Konawa Report

Jan 18. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 48°F and clear.

Bass, Largemouth Fair on Alabama rig, crankbaits, plastic baits around main lake, river channel, weed beds.

Bass, Striped Hybrid, Bass, White Fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, live shad around discharge, inlet, main lake, river channel.

Catfish, Channel Slow on chicken liver, cut bait, shrimp around inlet, riprap, weed beds.

Texoma Report

Jan 18. Elevation is 2 ft. below normal (stable), water temperature 58°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Striped Good on flukes, live shad around below the dam, channels, main lake, points, river channel.

Catfish, Blue, Catfish, Channel, Catfish, Flathead Good on chicken liver, live shad, stinkbait around below the dam, channels, coves, docks, main lake, river channel, river mouth.

Crappie, Black, Crappie, White Fair on caddis flies, grubs, hair jigs, jigs, minnows, nymphs around brush structure, docks, points, standing timber.

Comments: Fishing this week has been good. Striper continue to be caught on live shad below the dam and in the main lake. Catfish are being caught on live shad on jug lines and Rod and real near River ledges and the mouth of the river. Crappie are being caught on jigs around brush piles near docks.

Kaw Lake Report

Crappie, Black, Crappie, White Good on hair jigs, jigs, minnows, tube jigs around brush structure, riprap, standing timber.

Catfish, Blue Fair on cut bait, shad, sunfish around main lake, river channel.

Paddlefish Good on snagging around below the dam, main lake, river channel.

Grand Lake Report

Jan 17. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 47°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Largemouth Fair on crankbaits, plastic baits around brush structure, points, shorelines.

Catfish, Blue Fair on cut bait, shad around below the dam, docks, main lake.

Paddlefish Good on snagging around main lake.

Lower Illinois River PFHA Report

Jan 16. Elevation is Normal (stable), water temperature 50°F and clear.

Trout, Rainbow Good on caddis flies, in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, small lures, spoons, worms around below the dam, shallows, shorelines.

Comments: Check USACE website for water generation times.

McGee Creek Report

Jan 16. Elevation is 7 ft. below normal (falling), water temperature 47°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level)

Bass, Largemouth, Bass, Spotted Excellent on Alabama rig, bill baits, crankbaits, jigs, lipless baits, spinnerbaits, other around brush structure, points, riprap, rocks, shallows, shorelines, standing timber.

Catfish, Channel, Catfish, Flathead Good on cut bait, dough bait, shrimp, stinkbait around creek channels, flats, main lake.

Crappie, Black, Crappie, White Fair on minnows, small lures, tube jigs around brush structure, main lake, standing timber.

Hugo Lake Report
