Spring Turkey

Legal Means of Taking

  • Archery: Equipment described as legal for big game. See Big Game Regulations.
  • Shotgun: Conventional or muzzleloading, using shot no larger than BB (.180 of an inch in diameter) are legal.
  • Illegal Firearms: Rifles and handguns may not be used during the spring seasons.

 


 

License Requirements

Resident Youth (unless exempt):

  • Youth Annual Super Hunting License

Resident (unless exempt):

  • Resident Annual Hunting License, and
  • Resident Spring Turkey License

Nonresident Youth (unless exempt):

  • Nonresident Youth 5-day Super Hunting or Youth Annual Super Hunting License
  • Nonresident Game Bird Permit if hunting on WMA

Nonresident (unless exempt):

  • Nonresident Annual Hunting License, and
  • Nonresident Spring Turkey License
  • Nonresident Game Bird Permit if hunting on WMA

The adult nonresident 5-day hunting license is not valid for hunting turkey.

Youth Spring Turkey

Age Requirements

17 years old and younger. All youth hunters must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older with current hunting license.

Spring Turkey 

The adult may not hunt or possess any archery equipment or firearms.

Season Limit

  • One tom turkey statewide regardless of method of take.
  • A turkey taken during the youth spring season counts toward the regular spring turkey season limit of one turkey.
  • A turkey taken during controlled hunts does not count toward the regular spring turkey season limit of one tom turkey.

  • One (1) tom turkey; harvest of non-bearded turkeys is prohibited.
  • A turkey taken during controlled hunts does not count toward the regular spring turkey limit of one tom turkey.
